Aveiro, Portugal (PortSEurope) June 15, 2018 – The European Commission has approved the inclusion of the Galician rail link between A Coruña and Palencia in the Atlantic Corridor linking the port of Aveiro to France, a move that will increase the competitiveness of the Spanish region.
“The importance of this decision lies not only in the competitiveness of the Galician ports, which can bring their goods to Europe at competitive times, but also in the economic impetus in the interior of Galicia, a region with great demographic problems due to lack of investments and the economic growth,” Eixo Atlántico do Noroeste Peninsular, an association that brings together 38 Portuguese and Galician municipalities, has said.
According to Eixo Atlántico, the inclusion of the rail link between A Coruña and Palencia, through Vigo, in the section of the Atlantic Corridor connecting the port of Aveiro to France, should be ratified within one year.
