Edison enters Hydrogen Park in Marghera, Port of Venice

Venice, Italy (PortSEurope) January 14, 2022 – Energy company Edison SpA has purchased a 9.732% stake in Hydrogen Park, the Porto Marghera hydrogen consortium in Venice port. The aim of Hydrogen Park is to conduct some demonstrations on the various potentials of using hydrogen, aimed to acquiring all information useful for the evolution of the various technologies available and their industrial and civilian applications. Park was born in Porto Marghera in 2003 and its members include Enel, Sapio, Vega, Venezia Tecnologie, Vinyls Italia, Confindustria Venezia, Berengo, SAE Impianti and Arkema. “An important result for our territory”, commented the President of Confindustria Venezia in the metropolitan area of ​​Venice and Rovigo Vincenzo Marinese, “Edison’s expertise in renewables will allow it to consolidate the leadership of the Hydrogen Valley of Porto Marghera, the hydrogen district of the vast metropolitan area. The entry of this strategic player represents a further development opportunity for the economic and social fabric of Venice , which tends increasingly towards industrial reconversion, environmental and energy sustainability”. “Hydrogen Park applies the European Hydrogen Strategy in our territory, which intends to favor the green transition of industrial heritage. Edison’s entry into the Consortium accelerates this process. In particular, it guarantees potentially unlimited quantities of renewables for produce green hydrogen, which is essential to guarantee the supply of highly energy-intensive industrial districts.
