Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) December 10, 2018 – The European Commission has approved the extension by ten years of the Slovenian tonnage-based tax regime, which was originally authorised by Brussels in 2009.
The EU Commission has specified that Slovenia has committed to modifying by the end of 2019 its tonnage tax legislation to include a distinction related to the income of shipping companies from that deriving from the use of ships.
The extension will come into force on January 1. The EU Commission has specified that the impact of the application of the regime is expected to remain at €3.52 million ($4 billion) per year.
