Thessaloniki, Greece (PortSEurope) January 3, 2018 – The “green light” for the consolidation of Thessaloniki’s seafront, from Kalochori to Angelochori, with the Special Spatial Plan proposed by the Central Macedonia Region, was given by Deputy Environment Minister Socrates Fotmelos, at the opening the seminar organized by the Voria.gr website at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.
“The seafront of Thessaloniki is unique, it is the element that connects the city with the sea, the East with the West, and when its inhabitants perceive its unique characteristics, then it will also be brought to life,” said Fotmelos.
This uniqueness of the seafront’s tens of kilometers was presented by the architect of the award-winning New Beach project, Nikiforidis, speaking from the meeting steps, stressing that this great coastal zone has particular features that distinguish it among the cities next to the sea.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is to support the effort financially.
