Ferrol-San Cibrao, Spain (PortSEurope) July 22, 2021 – The Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority has promoted the creation of an Innovation Committee in which the main representatives of the port community were integrated with the aim of seeking synergies when launching projects that improve the competitiveness of their own companies and the entity that Indalecio Seijo directs. The first meeting of this new body, which took
place at the CIS of A Cabana was attended by 17 companies that provide services in the field of the port (Megasa, Navantia, Pérez Torres, FCT, Endesa, Galigrain, Forestal del Atlántico, Fishermen’s Association, Masol Iberia, Green Procesoil, Marpol Ferrol, Meraklogistics, Rubine e Hijos, SL, Antón Martín Shipping, Remolcadores y Botaman, Remolcadores del Noroeste and Sertosa Norte). The idea that the Innovation Committee manages is that the different organizations, companies and services that make up the port community meet every two months to debate and propose lines of innovation that are beneficial for both the organizations, companies and services that provide port services. It will be a way for common interests to align to present projects linked to innovation or even outside this development environment, such as, for example, Next Generation funds. In the first meeting the proposed lines of work were the evolution towards a zero emissions operating model, digitization and integration, control of access to the port, terminals and interior warehouses (advanced PCS), synchromodality, advanced infrastructures and planning and optimization of maritime port operations. During the course of the first contact in the Innovation Committee, Indalecio Seijo took the opportunity to congratulate the Fishermen’s Association for the project to power the fish market building with solar panels. An initiative that found funding and that will be implemented shortly. Likewise, the president of the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority expressed his satisfaction with the work that the company Amarradores del Puerto y Ría de Ferrol carried out in the tasks to refloat the Semper Güetto fishing vessel, sunk near Cedeira and transferred by Salvamento Marítimo to the Caneliñas dock with the keel in the sun.
