Ferrol, Spain (PortSEurope) April 13, 2018 – The “Feyha” ship has made in the outer harbour of Ferrol the second shipment of Galician wood exported to Asia, the largest load made to date, of 35,000 tonnes of pine trunk.
The operation was carried out by Madrid-based company Global Timber Trading and its peer Explotaciones Forestales Rudive, Ferrol port authority said.
Thanks to the union of these two companies, the Galician forestry sector has opened a new market full of future apart from the traditional market that already exists; Through this export, many jobs have been generated in rural areas, in transport and in the outer harbour of Ferrol, the two companies said.
The Ferrol outer harbour, with 20 metres of draft, allows the shipments of large magnitudes. In addition, this operation highlights the magnificent conditions of the infrastructure that, together with the good geographical situation and its land connections by highway, offers a great service to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula for the export of wood.
