Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) November 7, 2019 – Skadovsk port has hosted a meeting of the port administration, Kherson Oblast Administration and representatives of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce, Business and Local Government of Zonguldak Province, Turkey.
Skadovsk is a port city on the northern Black Sea coast in Kherson Oblast of southern Ukraine. Zonguldak is a city in the Black Sea region of Turkey, and is almost directly south of Skadovsk.
At the meeting, as well as deepening economic and trade cooperation between the regions, the two sides discussed the issue of restoration of the ferry service between the ports.
During the presentation of the port, the Head of the Skadov Branch of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), Alexander Kugut, outlined the main priorities of development of the port and the maritime industry of Ukraine and noted that ferry connection with the Turkish port will give a new impetus to the development of the Ukrainian port and the economy of the region as a whole.
“Representatives of the Turkish side have expressed interest in the restoration of the ferry connection, as well as the desire to expand cooperation between our states and Zonguldak province and Kherson region in particular”, commented Kugut.
During the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was also signed between Kherson and Zonguldak province, attended by the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuri Gusev and the governor of Zonguldak province Erdogan Bektas.
