Chornomorsk, Ukraine (PortSEurope) February 13, 2018 – Four companies have indicated interest in a tender to carry out work at Chornomorsk (formerly Illichivsk) port.
The companies are: China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., Novadeal Limited (a subsidiary of DEME Group, Belgium), Jan De Nul nv (the Netherlands), and Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV (The Netherlands).
The Ukrainian company Ukrstroyservice is planning to participate in the tender, but yet to confirm.
There are two pieces of work. The first includes the reconstruction of the approach sea channel of the port of Chornomorsk up to 16 m; the second lot – the reconstruction of the operational area of the Sukhoho estuary to 15 m.
Within the framework of the project, during the dredging works, it is planned to remove almost 2 million cubic metres of soil in total. Expected value for the first lot is UAH 91.769 million (€2.76 million) without VAT and the second UAH 353 million (€10.64 million) without VAT.
“The main purpose of the reconstruction of the sea approach channel in the port of Chornomorsk is to expand its capacity for safe and reliable reception of heavy cargo vessels with a draft of 14.5 m. This will satisfy the growing needs of shipowners and increase the volume of cargo processing”, said Raivis Veckagans, head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).
