Anaklia, Georgia (PortSEurope) March 5, 2021 – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said yesterday that the government would soon start the process of selecting a new potential investor for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project. In January 2020, the new port project contracted with the Anaklia Development Consortium (ADC) was cancelled by Georgia’s government with concerns around financing and progress with the project. The deadline
for obtaining the funding had been postponed six times. ADC won the state tender to construct the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and signed a deal with the government in 2016 and construction started in 2017. The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is not solely an issue for Georgia.
