Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain (PortSEurope) December 6, 2018 – Gibraltar’s Peninsula Petroleum as applied with Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas (APP – Port Authority of Las Palmas) for a license to supply fuel to ships calling at the harbour.
Although Peninsula Petroleum now requests authorization to be able to provide this service, it is not a new company in the port. The company has been active in the Canary Islands since 1999, but until now had always operated as a trader, that is, as an intermediary in the purchase and sale of hydrocarbons.
For years, Peninsula Petroleum stored its products in the facilities of the regional subsidiary of Cepsa. With the license the company has applied for, it will be able to provide directly the supply of fuel to ships in the port.
Peninsula Petroleum arrived in the Canary Islands in one of its first expansions after being created in 1996 by one of the main business families of Gibraltar, the Bassadones.
