Gijón, Spain (PortSEurope) June 11, 2019 – Gijón port registered between January and April an increase of the fishing of 56.2% over the same period last year, up to 2,746 tonnes, in contrast to the decrease of 1.2% of Avilés, up to 5,495 tonnes.
Avilés is the fourth Spanish port by volume of fishing landed, behind Vigo, Pasaia and A Coruña, while Gijón occupies the sixth position. In all the ports in Spain, the landed fishing fell in the first five months of the year by 2.9% year-on-year, to 62,160 tonnes.
