Gijón, Spain (PortSEurope) June 19, 2018 – Gijón port has tendered at €55,001 ($63,887) the refurbishment of the Candás lighthouse, to protect its entire structure and renew its electrical installation. The lighthouse, located in Cabo de San Antonio, is one of the eight navigation aid lights managed by Autoridad Portuaria de Gijón (APG – Port Authority of Gijón).
A recent inspection of the technicians of APG has detected problems of dampness in facades and interiors, woodworm in the structure of the wood and general deterioration in the opening of doors and windows in a building dating from 1917.
In addition to the necessary repairs, the works that have just been tendered by the port authority also include the construction of a pedestrian access way with stone paving to replace the current sleepers.
