Greek ministry introduces digitization & simplification for ports and shipping

A program agreement for the inclusion of 43 actions of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy in the National Program for Simplification of Procedures was signed on Thursday morning by YNANP Giannis Plakiotakis and the Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis. Prime Minister, Grigoris Demitriadis – October 7, 2021 Three of them are characterized as actions – sections that structurally upgrade the
operation of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy. Specifically, these actions concern: – In the Integrated Shipping Information System. – In the Port Community System, ie in digital services for the activity of the companies in the Ports and – In the total digitization of the files of YNANP. As stressed by the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Giannis Plakiotakis, this Program Agreement marks a new starting point in the digital space of Shipping and our relationship with society. “The Ministry of Digital Government”, he underlined, “in this new era, plays a leading role and in terms of the digital transformation of the country, the change is very fast and gives excellent results and the Ministry of Shipping could not be left behind in this In total, we are planning 43 actions with the Ministry of Digital Governance and three of them are emblematic. We are also very interested in creating incentives for the strengthening of the Greek Register. We have already taken specific initiatives at the institutional level, we will take others in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance for the register of ships and sailors, which will help significantly to make our register attractive and of course we are launching institutional initiatives for the overall reform of Public Maritime Education “. Mr. Plakiotakis personally thanked the Minister of Digital Government, Kyriakos Pierrakakis as well as all those who worked and will work for the preparation of the Program Agreement and for its implementation. The Minister of State and Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis for his part underlined the following: “Today we agreed with the political leadership of the Ministry a series of actions which will be implemented in the near future. Some concern large projects, while in a few weeks the citizens will see some of them being implemented. “Digitization and simplification of procedures is an important part of the shipping industry in Greece, both because of their strategic importance and because of the backlog in this sector.” Present at the signing were the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Costas Katsafados, the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance George Georgantas, the General Secretary of Simplification of Procedures Leonidas Christopoulos, the General Secretary of Information Systems Publicos Anasimonas Secretary of the Aegean and Island Policy Manolis Koutoulakis, as well as the Leader of LS-Hellenic Act. Rear Admiral Theodoros Kliaris.
