Seville, Spain (PortSEurope) June 12, 2019 – The Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Land Planning, via Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (APPA – Public Ports Agency of Andalusia) has awarded Grupo Control Empresa de Seguridad SA a two-year contract to provide security surveillance. The contract is valued at €4.791 million ($5.42 million).
The contract includes both security of facilities and people, including identity checks, personal objects, parcels, goods and vehicles accessing the facilities. Within the port, Grupo Control Empresa de Seguridad will be responsible for surveillance to deter and identify any criminal activities.
Security guards of the port facilities of Adra, Barbate, Mazagón and Isla Cristina, will also be equipped with an electric bicycles to facilitate the rapid movement inside the ports, thus facilitating their work and helping to protect the environment with a non-polluting method of transport.
This action is added to others that, in terms of security and surveillance, will be carried out in the ports as the installation of a hundred video surveillance devices (104 cameras and 30 domes) that will be controlled through a new closed circuit television in the facilities of the ports of Garrucha, Adra, Rota, Marbella, Mazagón and Isla Cristina and with a base budget of €774,400.
Andalusia has 34 port areas of regional ownership, of which 24 are managed directly, through the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia, and the rest indirectly, by dealers with an offer of moorings of more than 22,000 sports berths and which serve as support to more than sixty installations where the fishing, recreational and commercial traffic activity takes place.
