HHLA concession contract for the Trieste Logistics Platform signed

Trieste, Italy (PortSEurope) April 23, 2021 – Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale (AdSP – Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority) have signed the agreement for the German company to take over the Trieste Logistics Platform concession. The concession has a duration of 31 years, expiring in 2052, and covers an area of ​​approximately 120,000 m² inaugurated
at the end of 2020 and operational for weeks. Last September, HHLA agreed to take a majority stake of 50.01% in Trieste port’s multi-function terminal Piattaforma Logistica Trieste srl (PLT). HHLA signed the agreement with ICOP and Francesco Parisi, who set up PLT, to acquire the stake. With the investment, the German company seeks to gain a greater share of cargo transported in the Adriatic Sea and will be its third port activity after Odessa (Ukraine) and Tallinn (Estonia) outside Hamburg.
