Huelva, Spain (PortSEurope) January 19, 2018 – Huelva port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva) has said it plans to terminate the concession contract of shipbuilder Astilleros Cotnsa Huelva SA due to the violation of some of its conditions.
The concession was granted to Astilleros Cotnsa in 2013 for ten years. The concession was for the construction, repair, refurbishment and dismantling of ships, in the Northern Area of Huelva port.
The reasons for the termination of the agreement are the lack of the payment of concession fees to the port authority for more than 12 months, the lack of investments and the poor condition of the facilities operated by the company.
Moreover, the revenue generated by the concessionaire was below the minimum set in the concession agreement.
