Huelva port leads discussion on agri-food sector needs

Huelva, Spain (PortSEurope) June 20, 2018 – The reception and documentation centre of the port of Huelva led a discussion on the needs of the agri-food sector and the offer of logistic operators.

The analysis was carried out by the port of Huelva, the Association for the Commercial Promotion of the Port of Huelva (Huelvaexport) and the promoters of the Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin.

In statements prior to the start of the conference, the director of the Huelva port authority, Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, stressed that the port “will be attentive to what different operators need, in order to adapt or design their offer, facilities and infrastructures and to what the logistics chain needs to generate value in this important activity in the province.”

Álvarez-Ossorio has highlighted the container terminal launched in the port a few years ago, the ro-ro cargo, the terrestrial connection and the low-cost cooling energy supply project taking advantage of the energy of the Enagás regasification plant, which will allow the implementation of a sustainable refrigeration logistics hub.

The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva (APH – Port Authority of Huelva).
