Hutchison Ports BEST terminal welcomes first LNG-powered vessel

Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) April 15, 2021 – The Hutchison Ports BEST terminal at Barcelona port has handled the first ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) operated by French logistics company CMA CGM. The CMA-CGM Scandola container ship is the first such vessel to be fuelled by LNG and and has a capacity of 14,800 TEU. The terminal is working with Autoritat Portuària de Barcelona
(APB – Port Authority of Barcelona) on a number of environmental projects including the Shire Power project. Previously, APB announced its intention to provide all quays close to the City with on-shore power so that ships can plug-in and avoid any emission release.
