Hutchison Ports Holding holds talks with Port of Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) September 10, 2021 – A senior delegation from Hutchison Ports Holding has met with the president of the port of Barcelona, ​​Damià Calvet, to review investments and future projects of Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST), which is owned by Hutchison and located on el muelle Prat (dock). Hutchison Ports BEST is a semi-automated terminal and a key asset of the port’s container
handling capacity. Damià Calvet was accompanied by the director of the port authority, José Alberto Carbonell, and by the head of the presidential cabinet, Joan Pere Gómez, and the Hutchison Ports delegation was headed by Clemence Cheng, CEO for Europe, with Hutchison Ports BEST CEO, Guillermo Belcastro. Hutchison Ports makes annual investments in its terminal to increase container handling and its associated rail capacity. Calvet commented, “I have followed the evolution of the BEST terminal in the port of Barcelona since its commissioning”. In this sense, it is “one of the most important investments that we have ever had and that has generated one of the most technologically advanced terminals in Europe”.
