IDC Prepares Measures To Avoid Cargo Diversion

IDC prepares measures to avoid cargo diversion

Sines, Portugal (PortSEurope) February 28, 2017 – The International Dockworkers Council (IDC) is preparing to announce measures to avoid the diversion of cargo to Portuguese, French and Moroccan ports from Spain, due to the strike of longshoremen in the country. IDC intends to prevent neighbouring ports, such as Sines, Leixoes or Lisbon in Portugal, or Tanger Med in Morocco) and Marseille in France from becoming
alternatives to cargo that cannot be operated in Spanish ports during the strike, IDC said. At the same time, IDC is also preparing to call a strike in ports around the world on March 10, as a joint measure with the Spanish stevedores. The strike in the Spanish ports, now that the dialogue has been interrupted again, should start on March 6. Source: Cargo Edições (News portal) Copyright (c) PortSEurope. All Rights Reserved. 2017.
