Constanta, Romania (PortSEurope) November 9, 2018 – Compania Națională Administrația Porturilor Maritime SA Constanța, operator of Constanta port, has awarded Italian group Impresa di Costruzioni Ing. E. Mantovani a €30 million ($33.99 million) contract for modernizing the port’s infrastructure.
The project is funded under the European Union’s Large Infrastructure Operational Program POIM 2014-2020 which finances projects to increasing the use of waterways and ports on the central TEN-T network.
The Italian company will carry out dredging works at the ports, deepening the draft from seven to nine metres. This and other works will ensure safer navigation conditions on accesses, maneuvering basins and Danube basins in the port.
The contract was signed on November 6 and the Italian company has 20 months to complete the work.
China Communications Construction Company Limited and Envisan NV of the Netherlands also bidded for the contract.
Impresa di Costruzioni Ing. E. Mantovani is an Italian construction company based in Padua, Veneto.
