Ferrol-San Cibrao, Spain (PortSEurope) June 20, 2021 – The president of the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority, Indalecio Seijo, received an institutional visit from the Irish ambassador of Spain, Síle Maguire, together with the general consul of Ireland in Galicia, Tomás Antón Díaz del Río. The three analyzed the possibilities of growth in the commercial relations that link the island with the port through Caneliñas, where the
Containerships shipping company maintains a regular weekly line between the Yilport Ferrol container terminal and Dublin and also indirectly with Cork. This service is open to both exports from Spain to Ireland and from Ireland to Spain and is the only service of its kind in Galicia. Brexit generated new opportunities to increase the traffic due to the greater difficulties encountered by goods for land transport via the UK. In addition to containers, the port of Ferrol receives shipments of scrap from Duldalk, Limerick and Galway. And from Ferrol, steel products are shipped to Duldalk, Limerick and Galway.
