Rome, Italy (PortSEurope) January 9, 2019 – The coordination group of the general secretaries of the Italian port authorities, established in April to discuss technical issues at harbours, held a regular meeting in Rome on January 9.
The issues related to the communication of the European Union on the procedure for the taxation of permits and authorisations in the port areas were discussed, as well as the work carried out by Assoporti regarding the technical-nautical services tariffs.
Particular attention has been given to the potential application of an article in the budget that provides for the blocking of permanent contracts for non-economic public bodies, which could nullify the work carried out by the port authorities after the reform of the sector.
“The work carried out by the general secretaries on a daily basis is valuable for the functionality of our ports,” commented the president of Italian ports association Assoporti, Zeno D’Agostino. “I believe that a place for discussion and sharing within the association is important”.
