Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) July 5, 2019 – A representation of the Japanese business community, formed by members of Suiyokai-Association of Japanese Entrepreneurs in Catalonia (Suiyokai-Associació d’Empresaris Japonesos a Catalunya) and of CEJE-Business Circle Japan Spain (CEJE-Cercle Empresarial Japó Espanya) has visited the Port of Barcelona.
The Japanese delegation, headed by Naohito Watanabe, General Consul of Japan in Barcelona; Yuji Takeya, Deputy General Consul of Japan in Barcelona; and Makoto Morihashi, Economic Counselor of The Embassy of Japan in Spain, was received by the president of the Port of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa; head of International Relations and Promotion, Manuel Galán; and sales manager, Carles Mayol.
The visit of the delegation of the Japanese Business Community, made up of 25 people, is part of the promotion actions of the next Mission Business from the Port of Barcelona to Japan, to be held in Tokyo and Yokohama from November 8-10 this year.
In January this year, Barcelona representatives met with Japan Port Consultants as part of the preparations for a business mission from the port that will visit the Japan during next autumn. The head of International Relations and Promotion of the Port of Barcelona, Manel Galán, met with Japan Port Consultants, represented by director general, Koji Takahashi, and the deputy director, Masakazu Lio.
This was the first contact between those responsible for the organization of the the business mission, which will visit the cities of Tokyo and Yokohama during November.
With 172 million inhabitants, Japan is the third world economy and is currently the twelfth commercial partner of the Port of Barcelona. The food, automotive and chemical sectors focus on bilateral relations between the country Asian and Catalonia.
