Marseille, France (PortSEurope) July 16, 2018 – Members of the Medlink Ports association has elected Jean-Claude Gayssot, president of the board of directors of the port of Sète, to the presidency of Medlink Ports. He succeeds Christine Cabau-Woehrel, President of the Management Board of the port of Marseille Fos, who becomes Vice President of Medlink Ports.
The two leaders of the seaports agree on three main pillars of the action of Medlink Ports in 2018 and 2019: to lead operational actions with the economic actors of the Mediterranean-Rhône-Saône axis, to put multimodality at the heart of the transport supply strategy from the axis platforms to a wider hinterland and bring a common vision of Mediterranean facade articulated with this major logistic axis.
For some months now, Medlink Ports has made the decision to expand its multimodal dimension with its opening to rail from its ports, in parallel with its major fluvial dynamics. Complementary transport modes offer customers a wide range of solutions and an efficient supply chain, favouring the modal shift.
2018 is also the year of the intensification of the direct action of the association with its private partners, shippers, operators, economic actors of the sectors on the corridor as well as with institutions, public companies and communities. Through the synergy of all stakeholders, the new president intends to enhance and boost the logistics port and multimodal support for sustainable development of business in the territories of the axis.
Stating that the customer service and the fluidity of the chain will be at the heart of the concerns of the association, taking into account the different scales of flow: international, domestic and urban logistics including the stakes of the last kilometres serving the large cities.
Created in 2008 and established as an association in 2015, Medlink Ports brings together the seaports of Marseille Fos and Sète, and the inland ports of Pagny, Chalon-sur-Saône, Mâcon, Villefranche-sur-Saône, Lyon , Southern Vienne, Avignon le Pontet and Arles, together with infrastructure development managers of the Rhône-Saône Basin (VNF and CNR). 21 partner members have joined the agency since 2015 (including operators, handlers and shippers).
It is the leading fluvio-port entity of France. Medlink Ports is a member of the Interportal Coordination and Logistics Council of the Mediterranean-Rhône-Saone axis since its creation in 2017.
