Koper port issues statement regarding container terminal delays

Source: Luka Koper
Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) February 2, 2021 – Luka Koper d.d., operator of the port, has issued a notice regarding the current situation at the container terminal which is experiencing delays of mother vessels from Far East. The delays are expected to last for some weeks. This is causing, together with increased cargo volumes, higher levels of yard utilization on the container terminal and pressures to
adjust established processes on the wagon and truck segment. The port implemented some additional temporary measures to boost handling capacities on wagon and truck segments, but will continue to operate 24/7. The situation is forcing transport companies to reorganise their port services. Metrans, the intermodal transport company, has said that the operational situation is causing delays which has resulted in the cancellation of 3 train pairs this past weekend. The missing capacity will have an impact on the transit times from/to Koper. This comes at the same time as measures introduced by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis. Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
