
Koper port sees traffic down nearly 35% in July 2020

Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) September 22, 2020 – In July this year, Koper port handled total cargo of 1.29 million tons, down -34.7% on 1.98 million tons in the same month of 2019. With the exception of rolling stock, up 20.7% reaching 101,000 tons, all other traffic volumes were down: containerized goods with 585,000 tons (-23.0%), conventional goods 67,000 tons (-30.1% ), solid bulk 291,000 tons
(-53.7%) and the liquid bulk 249,000 tons (-39.7%). In January-July 2020, the port handled a total of 11.11 million tons of cargo, with a decrease of -18.3% on the same period last year, of which 4.89 million tons of containerized goods (-9.7%), 2.97 million tons dry bulk (-29.8%), 1.99 million tons liquid bulk (-18.9%), 714,000 tons of conventional goods (-18 .8%) and 548,000 tons of rolling stock (-11.9%).
