
Kosovo business delegation visits Durrës port

Durrës, Albania (PortSEurope) January 28, 2020 – A delegation from delegation from the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce has visited the port of Durrës to explore ways to improve transit of goods via the port to land-locked Kosovo. Around 75% of goods entering Kosovo from Albania transit via the port and total trade between the two countries was €309 million last year. In discussions with Pirro
Vengu, CEO of Autoriteti Portual Durres (APD – Durres Port Authority), attended by Ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi, and Ambassador of Kosovo in Albania, Nait Hasani, the parties discussed ways to increase and improve the efficiency of the cargo transit. Vengu said that the port would continue to work on improving infrastructure, and storage and processing facilities for Kosovo operators, and the countries are working on harmonizing customs codes to further facilitate trade exchanges. President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Berat Rukiqi, and representatives of transport businesses in Kosovo, welcomed the port authority’s new business plan, as well as the measures taken for the new services expected to be provided by the Port of Durres, focusing on the need to update port tariffs.
