Las Palmas, Spain (PortSEurope) February 8, 2019 – Las Palmas port approved an extension in the term of beginning and end of the works that Astican has planned to undertake in a plot of the Reina Sofía dock that was granted in 2017.

The president of the port authority, Juan José Cardona, explained that the delay in the start of the works is due to the delay of the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to grant the necessary license to begin construction.

“It is important that we can find formulas and the mayor participated in this decision,” he said.

The port also discussed the main economic and statistical data of its facilities during the past year. Even in the absence of definitive results, during 2018 the port increased its revenues by 5% thanks, among other factors, to the arrival of a greater number of vessels.
