Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) February 12, 2019 – Liguria’s regional government plans to complete the electrification of the docks in the Prà area of Genoa port by May 2020, infrastructure councillor Giacomo Giampedrone said.
The project will start in March and its aim is the reduction of noise and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the port.
“The average duration of the stop of ships at Prà varies from 8 to 36 hours, there are many issues that involve citizens including the noise generated by the onboard generators,” Giampedrone said.
The €11.4 million ($12.9 million) tender for the electrification of the docks has already been published and the executive planning has already been completed, he added.
