Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) August 29, 2021 – Luka Koper d.d. has published the Non-audited Report on the Performance of Luka Koper d.d. and Luka Koper Group in January–June 2021. The report says the port’s performance in 2020 was affected by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis, but the port started to show a recovery in the first quarter of 2021. With increased vaccination rates, the situation is
expected to improve in the second half of 2021. Maritime throughput in the first half of 2021 was higher than in the forecast and traffic in both the key sectors of containers and cars increased. In March, Luka Koper, d. d., set a new monthly record in the container throughput of 97,101 TEU transhipped. In contrast, the throughput of liquid cargo decreased, mostly due to the suspension of the passenger air traffic and lower volume of the throughput of petroleum products due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Otherwise, the throughput of the thermal coal also decreased, due to compliance with the European legislation which in coming years provides for decarbonisation.
