Koper, Slovenia (PortSEurope) November 28, 2018 – On Thursday, November 22, 2018, Luka Koper hosted a delegation from the Chinese port of Ningbo.
For Koper, it is a continuation of the signing of a cooperation agreement with port in June this year, which envisages an increase in trade between China and the countries of Central Europe. With this agreement, Luka Koper also formally became part of the economic zone initiative or the new Silk Road of the 21st century.
Many ports have been striving to increase shipping links and intermodal connections, as cargo must be transported to the target market as soon as a ship arrives in the shortest time possible.
Luka Koper with Ningbo and other ports connect weekly container lines and connections through the port (hub) ports in the Mediterranean. Last year, almost 190,000 containers (TEU) were conveyed to China.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group is the largest operator of ports in Zhejiang Province on the coast of the East China Sea. Last year, the group reached almost 1 billion tonnes of cargo, of which 10 million standard container units (TEUs).
Koper port is operated by Luka Koper dd.
