Málaga, Spain (PortSEurope) June 30, 2019 – Autoridad Portuaria de Málaga (APM – Port Authority of Málaga) has approved the ‘Green Port’ initiative, a project that aims to promote sustainable activity in port areas.
The initiative will focus on three fundamental lines of action, as part of the Investment Plan, 2019-2023.
The plan will proceed with the implementation of arboreal spaces and barriers in various locations of the port and, more specifically, in the transition zones between the city and the industrial area, with the aim of creating ecological corridors that favour of improved visibility of the port environment.
In addition, APM foresees the construction of co-generation facilities through the use of renewable energies, as well as the reduction of carbon emissions to the atmosphere through a lower use of fossil fuels, supplying this energy through the use of renewable sources and an increase in energy efficiency in all processes.
Other actions for the improvement of sustainable activity in the port of Malaga correspond to the creation of a clean point in the port, the renewal of the environmental certification of the Port Authority and the implementation of good practices agreements in this regard.
