Marseille, France (PortSEurope) September 8, 2019 – Marseille Fos Port Authority plans to invest $22 million in its attempt to become the first fully electric port in the Mediterranean by 2025. The port will develop and extend fully electric shoreside connections for all berthed vessels.
It will begin with the North Africa ferry quay and the ship repair hub in 2022, with the project being lasting three years.
Marseille Fos CEO Hervé Martel said: “We are convinced that ecological transition is the springboard to economic growth.
The port will work towards increasing electricity supply at port side which will reduce emissions and improve local air quality.
