Marseille, France (PortSEurope) November 8, 2018 – Med Europe Terminal has signed the Reefer Quality Charter with the port’s dockers’ union and warehuusemen, which aims to secure and strengthen its reefer business operated at the port.
The agreement implies the support of the reefer activity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The terminal undertakes that the reefers containers are loaded or unloaded from the ship, connected to the park, and able to leave the terminal if all the formalities are completed.
Emilie Zamora, commercial manager at Challenge International (international fruit transport company) said, “For us, a company specialized in fruit imports, having an efficient terminal is essential. This charter is therefore more than welcome; it adds an additional guarantee of reliable quality. In our business, competition from the various European ports is tough. Northern ports in particular concentrate most of the import flows. The charter is an argument for maintaining perishable product flows in our region”.
This event concludes a positive year for the terminal: 620 stops over 2018, 17.6% more than in 2016, and reefer volumes up 8.56% over the 2015-2017 period. Mourepiane offers direct connections to the entire Mediterranean basin, but also the Caribbean, West and East Africa.
The terminal is located at the Mourepiane terminal, in the eastern basins of the Grand Sea Port of Marseille. Med Europe Terminal is part of CMA Terminals, in turn part of CMA CGM, also based in Marseille.
