Mostaganem, Algeria (PortSEurope) June 20, 2018 – Mostaganem port has acquired new equipment to facilitate the handling of passengers and vehicles at the harbour, the regional government of Mostaganem said. The port has recently acquired two new scanners for passenger and vehicle inspection, which will enable it to service passengers and handle cargo in a shorter time, the president of Mostaganem regional government, Mustafa Belfar, said.
The new devices are added to other modern equipment purchased by the port two years ago to facilitate the traffic of passengers and vehicles, which grew by 114% last year. All necessary measures have been taken and the necessary administrative facilities have been adopted to ensure a convenient passage for the expatriate Algerian community, especially as the foreign passenger carrier between Mostaganem and Valencia in Spain will perform three calls per week. Belfar did not rule out that in the coming years, new lines will be opened for the shipping of passengers connecting the port of Mostaganem and other Spanish ports, such as Alicante, Almería and Barcelona.
