Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) November 27, 2018 – Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has said it plans to buy out the shares of Gruppo Investimenti Portuali (GIP), its current partner, in Calata Bettolo Container Terminal under construction in the Italian port of Genoa, and thus acquire 100% of the terminal.

Consorzio Bettolo has a contract with port authority to develop the new Calata Bettolo Container Terminal and was owned by MSC (65%) and GIP (35%), that in turn is run by the Infravia and Infracapital funds.

The new terminal will have the annual capacity of 550,000 TEU and is forecast to start operations in the first half of 2019.
