Mykolaiv, Ukraine (PortSEurope) January 6, 2018 – In order to solve the problem of overloading city streets with trucks, Mykolayiv port has initiated the construction of a parking lot for heavy-duty vehicles.
“We plan to equip a land plot of 35 hectares in the industrial zone of the Ingul district of the city, outside the residential area, near the main route used by trucks operating from the port. The cost is estimated at UAH 160 million (€4.71 million), said Oleg Protochenko , the head of the Sea Port Administration in Mykolayiv.
The pace and volume of cargo handling in the port of Mykolaiv continues to grow. From the forecast, bulk cargo of port operators of 13.1 million tons per year, on average about 40% or 5.2 million tons annually, will be delivered to the port by road. And this is almost 236,000 trucks a year.
