Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) January 12, 2018 – Onorato Armatori, a group that operates sea transportation services under the Moby, Tirrenia and Toremar brands, has announced that in 2017 the traffic of cargo handled by its ships active on routes with Sardinia and Sicily has recorded a significant increase.
In particular, the traffic of goods handled by the services of Tirrenia in Sicily recorded a 30% increase, due essentially to the boom in the traffic of semi-trailers, up 38% and the increase of the Genoa-Livorno-Catania-Malta line launched in November 2016. The overall increase in traffic was about half a million linear metres.
Onorato Armatori has specified that, despite the active competition, services with Sardinia increased the cargo traffic thanks to a general increase of the internal market, with a growth of 4%.
Overall, the group’s freight traffic, in all the lines serviced (Sardinia, Sicily, Corsica, Elba, Malta and Tremiti), had a growth of 9%.
