Oristano Issues Go-ahead For The Edison Natural Gas Storage Depot

Oristano, Sardinia, Italy (PortSEurope) December 27, 2017 – The authorisation process the coastal storage of Edison’s natural gas in the industrial port of Oristano has concluded. The Regional Council, on the proposal of President Francesco Pigliaru together with the Councilor of Industry Maria Grazia Piras and the Environment Donatella Spano, has approved the project for the installation of the storage depot.

Ove a year ago, the Edison company submitted the request to the Ministry of Economic Development, and after a long process in October the National Environmental Impact Assessment was completed and now the last green light has been given by the Region. The plant will have a storage capacity of 10,000 cubic meters and seven reservoirs for the storage of LNG. Other works planned are a berth and mooring system able to accommodate boats with a maximum capacity of 27,500 cubic meters, and a network for the transfer and distribution of gas.

A single definitive authorization should arrive in days, the last act before the opening of the building site.
