Port Authority of Valencia puts out to tender the Paseo Marítimo, Port of Sagunto

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has published in the Public Sector Contracting Platform the beginning of the procedure for the award of the works of the project “New promenade in the north area of the Port of Sagunto” with a base budget of 5,735,310 euros (VAT included) – May 12, 2022 This initiative is part of the agreement signed by the Port Authority of
Valencia (PAV) with the Sagunto City Council for port-city integration, which includes the construction of a promenade in the north of the port which, giving continuity to the municipality’s promenade , allow citizen use of this area and in the future, public access to the Sierra Menera jetty. For Aurelio Martínez, president of the Valencia Port Authority, “today is a very important day for Sagunto. We have complied with the commitments made; therefore, it is a success for all, a success for the strength of the consensus. We have shown that when there is will and sincerity in the dialogue between the parties, great achievements are achieved, in this case for the city and the port; that is, for people. For citizenship. From the Port Authority we have put the best of our technicians to reach today. From now on we will enter the final stretch of the administrative procedure and the technical supervision of the project; and we will be very attentive to conclude a job that will be a source of pride for the Saguntines and for a port that has a great and promising future ahead of it”. This project is developed on the land occupied by the land part of the current pontoon to create a new urban space that connects the end of the current Mediterranean Crossing with the start of the maritime section of the pontoon. Thus, among the characteristics contemplated by this project, it should be noted that the new promenade will have a bike lane since it will be the end point of the Sierra Menera greenway, the longest in Spain. In addition, this new promenade is conceived as a cultural, leisure and recreational activity center for citizens, for which a series of activity areas have been created that enable the realization of museum areas, restaurants, children’s games, sports , etc. In this line, one of the main ideas of the project is to value the heritage and historical character of the environment. For this, the new promenade is conceived as a space that reconciles leisure with a museum approach on the jetty and on Sagunto’s own industrial heritage. The project contemplates constructive solutions with several areas such as: Roundabout and intersection with Travesía del Mediterráneo street and Paseo Marítimo; Access stairs and starting area of the walk; Central part of the promenade and activity space; Final area of the promenade and future link with the pontoon; Interaction zone with the beach; Bike lane area. The announcement has been published on the public sector contracting platform and offers may be submitted until June 6, 2022. The execution period for the works will be 12 months. The remodeling project of the northern area of the Port of Sagunto is carried out in two phases. On the one hand, work will be carried out on the land area that will connect with the northern area promenade with the aim of tackling the execution as quickly as possible, and which is the subject of today’s tender. On the other hand, the maritime part that will require, due to the waste treatment that will be generated, being in non-inland waters, a simplified environmental procedure.
