Port of Barcelona validates its Innovation Plan

The Innovation Plan is the document that establishes the Port’s own innovation model to respond to the current and future needs of the Barcelona Port Community and the responses to the current and future needs of the Barcelona Port Community and the society it serves – December 6, 2021 This model is based on sustainable, open, collaborative and demand-driven innovation, collaborative, demand-driven innovation, aligned with
the Port’s strategy and with a strong technological base. The final objectives of the Plan, which includes the proposals set out in the 4th Strategic Plan of thePort of Barcelona, are to reinforce the Port’s role as a driver of economic growth, boost innovation and the digitalisation of the Port’s ecosystem, and to promote synergies with the city in this area. The Port of Barcelona’s Innovation Plan is based on an analysis of the situation in which the Port finds itself in aspects such as the use of new technologies, the innovative culture of the Port Community, the potential of Barcelona’s innovative ecosystem and the dissemination of this activity. It then specifies the actions that need to be taken to consolidate and extend this innovative model.and extend this innovative model and, finally, it establishes the management tools and structures that must facilitate this transversal transformation of port activity. The lines of work defined in the Innovation Plan aim to develop agile, cross-cutting management structures that involve the entire Barcelona Port Community, establish alliances with Barcelona’s innovativealliances with Barcelona’s innovative environment, stimulate sectoral innovation and disseminate the Port’s innovative activity. To achieve these objectives, the Innovation Plan foresees the creation of the BCN Port Innovation Foundation, which will facilitate the development of the Port’s innovative activity. In addition to promoting the establishment of alliances with all the actors involved in innovation in the Port and in the city, the Plan also establishes the need to create spaces where innovation can be successfully developed.
