Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) February 13, 2019 – The Port of Barcelona will participate in the 11th WCA Worldwide Conference, the annual meeting of the World Cargo Alliance (WCA) to be held in Singapore from February 18-22, a leading freight forwarders event.

The port will be represented by sales manager, Carles Mayol, and the head of International Relations and Promotion, Manel Galán. Barcelona is the only European port present at the conference thanks to the exclusivity agreement signed between the two parties.

During the conference, which plans to bring together 2,500 participants, representatives of the port will meet with forwarders interested in participating in the Sino-European International Freight Forwarders Conference, the annual meeting that brings together Asian and European freight forwarders which will be held at the World Trade Center Barcelona from June 11-14, 2019. They also have scheduled meetings with Japanese forwarders to prepare for the business mission this year.

The 11th WCA Worldwide Conference will allow the Catalan delegation to hold meetings with the Asian representatives of the maritime sector, freight forwarders and logistics operators, to explain the geostrategic location of Barcelona as a Euro-Mediterranean distribution centre, with a complete range of logistic services and of terrestrial and maritime connectivity (road, rail, short sea shipping) with the main markets of southern and northern Europe and North Africa.
