Port of Santander exceeds 2.5 million tonnes during the first half of 2017

Santander, Spain (PortSEurope) July 28, 2017 – During the first half of the year the traffic at the port of Santander reached 2,523,244 tonnes, up 8.65% compared to the first half of 2016. Of the total, 1,442,518 tons was solid bulk, liquid bulk 73,039 and general merchandise 1,007,687. Cars came in at 266,072 units, compared to 250,314 in the first half of 2016, up 6.3%.
Of these, 266,072 units, 170,165 were exported and 95,907 imported. In January to June 2017, ferries handled a total of 91,025 passengers between embarked, compared to 80,967 passengers in the same period of 2016, up 12.4%. The number of passenger cars has grown by 13.9% to 34,486 in 2017. In the month of June 2017, traffic was  456,516 tons, an increase of 7.69% compared to June 2016. Solid bulk was 259,073 tons, up 6.05%, and general merchandise reached 185,061 tons, up 11.73% due mainly to sodium carbonate and machinery. Source: SpanishPorts Copyright (c) PortSEurope.
