their investments in infrastructures and stimulate the economic activity of La Safor and Camp de Morvedre This morning Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV – Valenciaport, Port Authority of Valencia) announced the development of two strategic plans for the ports of Gandía and Sagunto in the visit of president of the APV, Aurelio Martínez, together with the Regional Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain, and the mayor of Gandía, Diana Morant. They visited the dock to see first-hand the investments that Valenciaport has made and that have improved both the facilities and the port environment and the processes carried out in the port. As reported by the APV president, “these strategic plans will make it possible to strengthen the ports of Gandía and Sagunto, and plan, define and coordinate investments in infrastructures that will boost the economy of the Camp de Morvedre and La Safor regions”. Diana Morant, mayor of Gandia, indicated that the plan “will improve services in all the central regions of the Valencian Community”. For her part, Minister Arcadi Spain has indicated that “from the administration we are obliged to give a boost to many actions that were in high demand and that now we have to accelerate. This plan will contemplate the singularities of the Port of Gandía so that it becomes an economic engine and an element of activation of the economic, cultural and tourist activity in this area”. €2.5 million in investments and towards energy self-sufficiency During the tour, the first one carried out by the Regional Minister of Territorial Policy to the port of Gandía, the South access was visited, which had an investment of €2.35 million and was inaugurated in January 2020. “This access has allowed traffic to be reduced by 100 trucks a day through the historic centre, which has resulted in a decrease in noise suffered by the residents of the city, ”recalled Aurelio Martínez. The southern access has 2 entry locks and another 2 fully automated exit locks. Likewise, one of the locks has been designed for the access of very long special transport vehicles. This infrastructure has served to boost the economy of the area and has freed the Grau neighbourhood of all that heavy traffic it suffered. In addition, the works of the Serpis Wharf were visited, where the PAV has made an investment of €2.1 million to reinforce the floor of the terminal and thus be able to accommodate more modern and more powerful cranes with the capacity to work with loads of up to 40 tons and a reach of 33 meters, which will allow the port’s performance and agility to be expanded. The work, awarded to Torrescamara, is scheduled to end in the first quarter of 2021. The two cranes that were located on this dock had a capacity of 1.5 tons, which limited the performance of the site Finally, the three representatives have visited Shed No. 4, located in the upper part of the southern access, where the future photovoltaic station of 0.7MW of power will be located. The Port Authority of València announced at the beginning of the year that it plans to make Gandia the first port in Europe to be energy self-sufficient.
