Ports of Genoa see cargo traffic down -6.3% in January 2021

Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) March 9, 2021 – Commercial traffic in the ports of Genoa in January 2021 was 5,029,731 tonnes down -6.3% compared to the same month of 2020. Conventional traffic was just below the volumes of January 2020 (1,045,252 tonnes vs. 1,084,638). Dry bulk traffic improved (+6.1% compared to the same period of the previous year). Dry bulk traffic improved, up 6.1% compared to
the same period of the previous year, while the liquid bulk closed the month with a sharp decline (-11.5%), as did other liquid bulk (-14.9%). The passenger sector is once again in a critical situation, down 98.2% in the cruise sector, as a result of the restrictive measures relating to local travelwhich forced companies to suspend operations. The ports of Genoa, Savona and Vado Ligure are managed by Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Occidentale (AdSP – Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority).
