Friopuerto to operate refrigerator facility at Leixoes port

Leixoes, Portugal (PortSEurope) January 19, 2017 – Friopuerto Investment SL, a subsidiary of Grupo Romeu dedicated to the international transport of reefer containers, has signed a contract to operate a refrigerator facility at the Portuguese port of Leixoes, the country manager of the company for Portugal, Joao Gaitas, said. The investment is being executed, together with Leixoes port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Leixões), in Logistics
Pole 1 of the Portuguese harbour. The project started after the award of the contract of Leixoes port to Friopuerto in July 2015. The construction works of the new refrigerator facility began in October and will have an investment of €5 million ($5.3 million). The facility will be launched in the second half of this year. After completion of the works, the refrigerator facility will cover an area of 7,000 sq m, within a plot of 9,000 sq m, and will have a refrigerating capacity of 40,000 cu m, or 5,200 pallets. The refrigerator facility will be equipped with three temperature controlled chambers. Friopuerto will open between 10 and 20 jobs at the port.
