Portugal to support Figueira da Foz port upgrade

Figueira da Foz, Portugal (PortSEurope) January 6, 2017 – Portuguese Minister of the Sea, Ana Paula Vittorino, has included the projects for the upgrade of Figueira da Foz port in the government’s “Strategy for the Improvement of Port Competitiveness” for the period between 2016 and 2026. Under the project, the Portuguese government intends to invest a total of €36.1 million ($38 million) in the port
in the period. Led by Gonçalo Vieira, the association of Figueira da Foz port community CPPFF (Comunidade Portuária do Porto da Figueira da Foz) expressed “satisfaction”, with the readiness of the government to co-finance the works, and emphasized that the improvement of maritime accessibility, with the dredging of the port’s seabed will allow it to receive vessels of greater capacity and size, but also to increase the hinterland of the harbour.
