Portugal’s AMT Approves Port Tariff Increases Of 1.6%

Lisbon, Portugal (PortSEurope) January 6, 2018 – The Regulation of the Tariff System of Ports and the “Guidelines for the preparation of proposals for the revision of port administration tariff regulations for 2018 ” of the Autoidade da Mobilidade e dos Transportes (AMT) of this Authority, has approved tariff updates for mainland ports.

To this end, the macroeconomic environment, the port sector, the specificities of each port administration, as well as the progressive harmonization between the cost of the various operations and the respective billing values considered in the tariff, as well as the objectives of the promoting the competitiveness of national ports, are aimed at improving the performance of port infrastructure and increasing productivity.

The Tariff Regulations for Ports Administration for 2018 for the ports of Porto, Leixões and Viana do Castelo, S.A., the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve, S.A., and the Port Authority of Lisbon, S.A., in line with the forecast of the Banco de Portugal for the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in June of 2017, were updated by 1.6%.

With regard to the Tariff Regulations for 2018 of the Administration of the Port of Aveiro, S.A., and of the Administration of the Port of Figueira da Foz, S.A., remained unchanged and, as regards the Tariff Regulations for 2018 of the Port Administration of Setúbal and Sesimbra, S.A., the respective updating was, globally, below that index. The opinions of the Port Communities were considered in the approval.
