President Of AdSP (Palermo) Receives Threat

Palermo, Italy (PortSEurope) June 19, 2018 – President of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sicilia Occidentale (AdSP – Western Sicilian Sea Port Authority), Pasqualino Monti, has received a threat in the form of a bullet in an envelope.

The threat coincides with the signing of an agreement to challenge corruption in contracts associated with the AdSP’s ports. Corruption threatens the availability of European Union funds worth €340 million for the ports of Palermo, Termini Imerese, Trapani and Porto Empedocle.

“Solidarity with President Pasqualino Monti, against the vulgar and violent intimidatory act he received”, was expressed by the Secretary of the CGIL Palermo Enzo Campo and the entire provincial secretariat. “We are close to the AdSP for this important initiative, which we share, of the legality protocol signed yesterday to make the fight against mafia infiltration more effective in view of the large investment announced at the Port of Palermo”, emphasizes Campo.
